Lodging and Logistics

Getting to Auburn

Auburn is about three hours from either Metro Detroit or Chicago.  But if you are flying, the airport in Fort Wayne Indiana is just 30 minutes away.  Best of all, the airport is very small and is a delight to fly through.

If you are a railroad fan, consider taking Amtrak which stops just seven miles from Auburn in Waterloo Indiana.   Classic Bicycles Auburn will be delighted to help with logistics as much as possible if you need a ride from or to the train station.

Room Blocks and Bicycle Logistics

Auburn has many hotels and motels.  Generally, hotels on the east side of I-69 are easier to access.  If you will be riding from your hotel to the museum, it is a bad idea to stay on the west side of I-69 as the only access road is extremely busy.  If the hotels convenient to the museum fill, there are many hotels in the region.  But you will be much farther from the venue.  We strongly suggest making your room reservations as soon as possible.

There are are currently room blocks for Classic Bicycles Auburn at three hotels.  Two of the hotels (see descriptions below) have a meeting room set aside where bicycles can be assembled (users must take precautions not to damage the room and floors).  Hotels with the meeting rooms set aside are also amenable to receiving your bicycle(s) if you are shipping them to Auburn.  The meeting room can also be used to stage bicycles for UPS or Fedex pickup after the show.  We will post more details closer to the show dates.  If you take advantage of this opportunity, you are doing so at your own risk and neither the hotel or Classic Bicycles Auburn can take responsibility for theft or other loss as a result.  Similarly,  guests of these hotels are individually responsible for any damages to the hotel and for abiding by all hotel policies.

Hotels – prices are pre-tax

Note:  Some folks have reported difficulties with the hotels “finding” the room blocks when trying to make their reservations.  On 5/24/2022 we confirmed that each hotel should now have the “system” worked out and are ready to process reservations.  Please contact Mike (lead organizer of Classic Bicycles Auburn) at mikekone@comcast.net should you encounter any difficulties.

Sure Stay Plus   (260) 925-6363

Closer to the highway and some big-box stores.  This hotel has nice reviews and they seem very friendly.  A meeting room is available on the second floor and can be used as a bicycle assembly area.  King room $89.99, 2 Double bed room $ 94.99, and 2 Queen room $99.99.   They seem receptive to receiving bicycles in advance for guests.  Also, if you are staying on for the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival, for a limited number of rooms they will extend your stay at the very reasonable group rate.

Comfort Suites  Auburn (260) 920-7600 then press 2

Rather close to the venue and they seem very helpful and friendly.  Nice reviews.  A meeting room is available and can be used as a bicycle assembly area.  All rooms are $99.00 and include Kings and double Queens.  Be sure to use the above number for your reservation as the hotel is familiar with the room block rates.  Also, if you are staying on for the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival you can extend your stay at the very reasonable group rate which is a huge savings.

Baymont by Wyndham Auburn    (260) 333-5509     Itinerary Number 5136B 26298 3950

Quite close to the venue.  The block room rate varies during the block period; some nights are as low as $76, other nights are $89.95 for  double Queen room.  Does not review as well as the other hotels but the price is nice.  No provision for a bike assembly area, and rooms might be less friendly size-wise for bicycles (and guests responsible for avoiding damage to room as is always the case).  This motel is a nice option if you have a car for storing your bike(s) and proximity and low price are helpful.
