Getting to Auburn

Auburn is about three hours from either Metro Detroit or Chicago.  But if you are flying, the airport in Fort Wayne Indiana is just 30 minutes away.  Best of all, the airport is very small and is a delight to fly through.  Indy is a bit over two hours away.  Detroit’s airport is just under 2 1/2 hours away but is a rather comfortable drive traffic wise as the airport’s southwest of the city and you avoid most area traffic.

If you are a railroad fan, consider taking Amtrak which stops just seven miles from Auburn in Waterloo Indiana.   Classic Bicycles Auburn will be delighted to help with logistics as much as possible if you need a ride from or to the train station.

Hotels

We strongly suggest making your room reservations as soon as possible.  Auburn is fast becoming a “suburb” of nearby Fort Wayne.  If there is a large sporting event in Fort Wayne, it puts pressure on hotels in the Auburn area.  It’s best to reserve your room immediately since you can typically cancel a reservation should your plans change.

Auburn has many hotels and motels.  Generally, hotels on the east side of I-69 are easier to access.  If you will be riding from your hotel to the museum, it is a bad idea to stay on the west side of I-69 as the only access road is extremely busy.  If the hotels convenient to the museum fill, there are many hotels in the region.  But you will be much farther from the venue.

For 2026, we made arrangements with the Sure Stay Plus in Auburn for a discounted rate ($90 before tax) for a limited number of rooms.  For most of the hotel, though, it’s first-come-first-served for both Classic Bicycles Auburn and the general public.  As of January 26, 2026 there is still good room availability remaining, but rooms are going fast.   Note that when the famous Auburn Cord Duesenberg festival is happening, we see the Duesenbergs parked in front of this hotel.  Folks see, to like the character of this older hotel in a “good way”.  There is no elevator, so request a ground floor room if mobility is a concern.  To get discounted rates, call the hotel directly and request the discount for Classic Bicycles Auburn.  If there are any questions, the general manager is Brandi.  Their number is (260) 925-6363.

Comfort Suites Auburn – this is where most folks stayed in 2022 and we know folks who’ve made reservations there for 2026.  We have not made any special arrangements with this hotel.  You can find this hotel online easily, or their phone number is (260) 570-4529.

Baymont by Wyndham AuburnThis hotel is close to the venue.  Reservations can be made by calling (866) 994-8087.  We have not made any arrangements with this hotel.
